Interplay between core, edge and scrape-off layer in turbulent magnetised plasmas

L. Vermare

Abstract

The present manuscript is meant to provide a companion pedagogical approach to an information theoretic measure, the "Transfer Entropy" method, useful to assess causality in complex (time series) datasets. This manuscript describes useful basics for the forthcoming discussion on the causal chain of events that leads to the onset of a spontaneous and stable edge transport barrier in flux-driven gyrokinetics when core, edge and scrape-off layer regions self-consistently interplay.
