Résumé

Shock-induced damage assessment in metals is required for a good understanding of teh behavior of a pyrotechnical device, and for its modeling. At the laboratory level, a shock can be reproduced by means of impact experiments on various matallic samples representative of the structures of the device. Preliminary expertises of the metallurgical features of a sample before impact, and post-impact measurements aimed at quantifying the obtained damage level, are necessary. During the shock, the privileged diagnosis consists in a measurement of the so-called "free surface velocity" on the rear side of the impacted sample. This paper reviews the different experimental methods used at the CEA-DAM.
