Experimental characterisation of waste sludge, thermo-physical properties and drying kinetics
Abstract
Drying is a proposed method to remove water from industrial sludge to make it dry and chemically inert. In this study the thermo-physical properties of the sludge like effective thermal conductivity, heat capacity, drying kinetics, apparent moisture diffusivity, density and shrinkage coefficient, have been determined. The relationships between thermo-physical properties and the water content / temperature of the sludge have been established.
