Copernic, a new tool based on simplified calculation methods for innovative lwrs conceptual design studies

Abstract

This paper describes the COPERNIC tool used for the safety and operation assessment of innovative nuclear systems. COPERNIC is fast and easy-to-use thus it makes it possible to perform parametric studies on a given concept or comparative studies between various concepts. Over the last past months, it has been improved in order to allow simulations of passive (and some active) system behavior during LOCA transients in order to pre-design these system. Each individual system is implemented in COPERNIC as a transfer function that has been calibrated versus thermal-hydraulic CATHARE-2 models.
