Virtual Reality a way to prepare and optimize operations indecommissioning projects

Abstract

CEA must manage the end of life of its nuclear fuel cycle facilities built in the sixties. These high priority actions led to the creation of a dismantling RandD division which provides innovative tools, including in-situradiological characterization, remote handling and cutting, and intervention scenario simulation.Simulation is an ideal means of visualizing and therefore better knowing highly radioactive environments where humanscannot enter, of testing different technical alternatives, and of training workers prior to interventions
