Abstract : The aim of this work is to evaluate the efficiency of the local defect correction multigrid method (Hackbusch, 1984) on solid mechanics test cases inducing local singularities and derived from an industrial context. The levels of local refinement are recursively automatically obtained thanks to the Zienkiewicz and Zhu a posteriori error estimator. Strategies around prolongation operator, ratio and criterion of refinement are given in order to reach the best performances. Comparisons with a h-adaptive refinement method enable us to appreciate the performances of the proposed tool in terms of precision, memory space and CPU time.
